Prominent singer Akon, created quite a buzz after he began working towards a crypto-powered city in Senegal. While this city is still underway, the singer decided to take his futuristic project to Africa’s Uganda.
The city coming up in Senegal has been employing the Akoin [AKN], a cryptocurrency-powered by the Stellar blockchain. This project has been allocated a total of 2,000 acres and is being constructed with a budget of $6 billion. Just as the images released with regard to this project turned several heads, the community awaits the potential plans for the city in Uganda.
Akon To Set Up Crypto City In Uganda By 2036
The crypto industry lured in several celebrities this year. However, certain celebrities were already bagging gains or trying to roll out their own asset for quite a while now. Akon undoubtedly falls into this category. The popular singer has time and again expressed his interest in the crypto industry. As he continues to build the Akon-city in Senegal, the Ugandan government decided to announce the singer’s latest move.
The television network, NBS revealed that the government had allocated about one square mile of land to the singer for his futuristic city. While the cost of the city was still under wraps, Akon revealed that he hopes to have this city completed by 2036.
Speaking at a press conference, the singer commented about the ability of Ugandans in funding the potential city. He said,
“I know if I put it there, they are [Ugandans] are going to find a way to afford it because it’s going to motivate them […] Ultimately when you create an opportunity, people learn with that opportunity [and] people are motivated with that opportunity.”
Additionally, the singer, with this crypto city intends to pave the way to investors across the globe further creating employment for the residents of Uganda.
The singer has garnered an array of appreciation for his plunge into digitalization, particularly with crypto.
