Bitcoin [BTC] has veered into multiple platforms this year. The king coin witnessed impeccable growth as it grew in terms of adoption as well as value. More recently, Bitcoin landed a spot in a prominent American cinema operator AMC Entertainment.
This isn’t the first time that a cinema operator expressed interest in employing Bitcoin as a payment method. Back in March, Thailand’s largest movie theatre chain, Major Cineplex Group revealed that it had included BTC as one of its many means of payment.
Looks like AMC had jumped onto the BTC train with its latest move. During a recent conference call, the AMC CEO and chairman, Adam Aron announced its plunge into the crypto-verse.
Bitcoin explores the movie land
While no official statement has been released by AMC, the CEO revealed his interest in crypto at the recent conference call while talking about the platform’s Q2 results.
Further elaborating on Bitcoin’s place in AMC, the CEO pointed out that the cinema chain would formulate an infrastructure that would accommodate BTC to be accepted as payments for booking tickets online. Aron hopes to have this ready by the end of this year.
The conference call reportedly entailed hundreds of investors who were listening to Aron’s proposal of the inclusion of BTC.
Additionally, the AMC CEO noted that the company was looking to expand across the Middle East, the United States as well as Europe. If the platform’s BTC adoption goes as planned, the value and popularity of the king coin would garner a major boost.
It is speculated that AMC’s move towards the crypto market could be influenced by the Reddit-based memes that fuelled the shares of AMC, back in January.
This news stands as proof of how the fervor around the crypto market particularly Bitcoin hasn’t depleted despite the recent crash.
